GURGAON: Twelve persons, including four women, all residents of Delhi and Noida, have been arrested for allegedly manhandling a couple who were in the city to celebrate New Year's Eve. They were produced in court on Thursday. The four women were granted bail while the others were sent to judicial custody.
The incident took place in a hotel located on Old Delhi Road, where the couple, residents of Khaanpur, had come to celebrate New Year's Eve. They had booked a room for overnight stay.
Post-midnight on December 31, around 12:15am, when the couple was on the dance floor, the accused men allegedly misbehaved with the woman. When the woman and her husband objected to their advances, the accused women too join their male friends and manhandled the couple.
Terrified, the couple immediately informed the police.
According to Naresh Kumar, SHO, Civil Lines police station, the accused were arrested and were taken to the hospital for tests, where it was confirmed that they were all inebriated.
"The couple had come to the hotel the New Year bash and had booked a room to stay overnight. They complained of being manhandled," said Surinder Pal Singh, DCP, West.
