A 16-year-old girl has been arrested in the US on charges of murder in connection with the strangulation death of a man. According to the girl, the 43-year-old man died during consensual sex, officials said.
The girl was booked on Saturday into a detention centre.
The girl was arrested after the Glendale Police were called around 5.45pm after a report came in of an injured person in a West Olive Avenue apartment. When the police arrived, they found the man, identified as Jason Ash, to be dead, officials said.
Ash reportedly had several cut marks on his body and a cord tied around his neck.
Police said the 16-year-old had fled the apartment before they arrived and that she was taken into custody from a neighbouring unit.
The teen's mother, while speaking to the police had said that she had received a call from her daughter saying that she and Ash had been involved in a consensual sex act involving strangulation and that Ash was dead. The mother said that she had left the girl and Ash alone at home. She told the police that she quickly returned home, called 911 and attempted to resuscitate Ash.
The teen has reportedly confessed killing Ash during the sex act and to cutting him.
Police are investigating the case further.
