Delhi teacher acquitted of false rape charges

New Delhi: A 35-year old teacher was acquitted of rape charges by a local Delhi court who found the victim’s version of the story untrustworthy.

A teacher by profession, the man spent 22 months in jail after he was accused of raping a 20-year old woman.

A victim of ill-use of anti-rape law, the teacher was pursuing M. Tech before January 25, 2012 when he was jailed over false rape charges.

According to him, the incident has harmed his career and nobody now wants to give him a job. Left with little options, the teacher now plans to complete his studies and set up his own business.

His lawyer told the court that his client and the woman were cousins and  were having an affair. After the woman’s mother died in 2009, she started visiting his flat in South Delhi frequently. The two then got married in Manali.
