Delhi businessman abducted for Rs. 2cr, girlfriend behind it

A Delhi businessman was recently released by his kidnappers after he paid the first instalment of a Rs. 2-crore ransom, only to find out his girlfriend had hatched the entire plot.
Four professional kidnappers from Haryana, including a national-level kabbadi player, have been held for the abduction, police said Saturday. They were hired by four employees of the businessman and have been identified as Shivika Chauhan – the girlfriend — Arun Vohra, Sunny and Raj Walia. All four are still absconding.
Police said Shivika was cheating Saurabh Ahuja (24) as she was also in a relationship with Arun Vohra, said to be the mastermind of the plot. To make the abduction more real, the conspirators also staged their own kidnapping along with Ahuja’s and remained confined with him in a room in Najafgarh, police said.
While in the room, each of the staff pressured Ahuja to pay the ransom by claiming they had arranged forRs. 80 lakh for their safe release. Scared, Ahuja asked his family to pay Rs. 18 lakh as advance money and not to report it to the police. Ravindra Yadav, additional CP (crime branch), said the professional kidnappers have been identified as Sunil Rathee, Krishan, Ravi Hooda and Sandeep Sharma.
Krishan is a national-level Kabbadi player while Sharma is a hotel management student. Ahuja was kidnapped on December 22, 2013 from his company’s rest house in outer Delhi. The conspirators had mixed sedative in his drink after which he became unconscious. Police said Ahuja was released on December 25 on the condition that he will pay back his four employees Rs. 80 lakh, which they had arranged for their release.
