Deserted by wife, man hangs himself in Vatva

AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old man hanged himself at his residence in Vatva on Tuesday night. In the primary investigation, police suspects that he took the extreme step after his wife allegedly eloped with her lover taking along with the couple's five-year-old daughter.

According to the Vatva GIDC police, Bhagwan Dubey, a resident of Saibaba Apartment in Bhagwanwadi was found dead by his neighbours on Wednesday when he did not respond torepeated calls. When neighbours broke the door, they found him hanging from a ceiling fan with a rope.

Police investigators said that Dubey's wife Mamta was in love with a man identified as Parmesh, living in the next block. Dubey was not aware of the affair but when he did not see his wife and daughter, he got worried and tried to contact them. At that very moment, nearby residents broke the news that she might have eloped. When Dubey checked on the valuables, he found that she had taken away gold jewellery, cash and papers of the house with her.

"When he realized what the others were saying may have some truth, he broke down. He kept on searching for them from afternoon to night. He had locked himself in after which he was found dead. We have come to know that Parmesh is also married and has kids," said a Vatva police official.

Investigations are underway, police added.
