Bangalore: In a very interesting order, the Karnataka High Court has allowed a couple to divorce after the wife refused to accept her husband's medical fitness certificates. The wife had asked her husband to prove that he was not suffering from HIV, diabetes, heart diseases etc for the consummation of the marriage. Her husband had produced all certificates. But, the wife had refused to accept them saying that he had got them after bribing the doctors.
After his repeated attempts to convince the wife failed, he had gone to a family court seeking divorce. The High Court in its order advised the couple to go for separation as there is a huge trust deficit in the relationship.
The couple got married in 2006 after a brief affair. The husband had approached the family court seeking divorce in 2007 after the wife returned her parent's house. His application was dismissed by the family court.
The High Court upheld his request on the grounds that a marriage will not and cannot survive without complete faith and trust.
