Techie held for 'raping' wife's friend

HYDERABAD: A software engineer, who allegedly raped a 24-year-old housewife, was arrested by Malkajgiri police on Friday. Police is on the lookout for his wife, who allegedly turned out to be an accomplice in the crime.

Malkajgiri police said that G Katam Raju, 32, is the owner of a flat on fifth floor while the victim lives on the second floor at Mirjalguda.

On October 14, the victim lodged a complaint alleging that Raju's wife Usha Sree called her to her flat and deliberately went out after bolting the door from outside.

"Raju who was in the bathroom, came out and allegedly raped the victim after she fell unconscious after drinking some juice offered by him. Based on the complaint, Raju was arrested while his wife is absconding,'' Malkajgiri inspector LC Naik said.

A case was registered against him under 376 (rape) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In an another case in Lungar Houz, a client lodged a complaint against her Advocate Kaja Moinuddin accused him of raping her.

It was six months ago the 23-year-old victim approached Kaja, to help her secure divorce from her husband Srinivas, who is a resident of VAMBAY colony, Domalguda. But she accused that the Advocate allegedly raped her during the one of her visits to him. It was on Friday she lodged a complaint with Lungar Houz police.
