Kannada film actor Imran Sharief (30) was booked on Friday for allegedly attacking his wife at his residence for not bringing `50 lakh as dowry.
His wife Nazia (26) filed a complaint alleging that Imran had kicked her in the stomach and hit her with cloth hangers.
She has also mentioned that Imran had put a machete to her throat and warned her that if she does not bring dowry, he will cut her into pieces. Ayub Mohammad, Nazia’s uncle, told Express that the couple got married in 2005 and have a four-year-old baby girl.
“Imran’s family runs Chintu School in Guddadahalli. He demanded money to construct a new building for the school,” he added.
Shocked, the girl’s father developed heart ache and was admitted to Narayana Hrudayalaya, police said. “We have given the documents to police. But, they have taken his mother Imtiyaz Unnisa into custody but no action has been taken against Imran yet,” Ayub said. MLA and corporator are influencing the police not to take action against the culprits, he alleged.
