Father Missing After False Case

-Allegedly Says Brijodh Tiwana

Mr Birjodh Tiwana and Ms Rachan Bassi Both   Indian citizen residing in U.S.A.given a press statment that Mr. Birjodh Randhawa is a graduated from IIT Kharagpur and work for Microsoft Seattle. He have a number of issues he would like to bring to media attention. His  brother (residing in Canada also an IIT graduate) got married in December 2010 to a Punjabi Canadian NRI girl Karamvir Kaur Gill. Few weeks after the wedding she flew back to her mother’s home in Surrey Canada and sponsored my brother to join her in Canada in July 2011. After living together for a few months they did not get along very well and decided to get a divorce. Their divorce case is expected to finalise over the next couple of months in Canada. However, the girl’s father Upinder Singh Gill (s/o Gurdarshan Singh Gill residing in Power Colony Sarabha Nagar Ludhiana an employee ofPunjab Electricity Board) has registered a false case in the NRI cell in Ludhiana of which they have not been notified officially in writing.

They have only received phone calls and emails from women cell Ludhiana to which they responded promptly. Soon after His brother’s separation, His father contacted Upinder Singh Gill in order to peacefully resolve the issue without dragging it to court. They also sent our relatives to Upinder Singh Gill to facilitate a peaceful resolution. But Upinder Singh Gill was extremely uncooperative and demanded ludicrous sums of money and a share in our ancestral land. They wanted us to visit him in person in India. He even contacted Brijodh’s father and gave death threats.

In the mean time, Mr. Brijodh’s wedding was due to be held in March 2013. Everything was booked and finalized to take place in Chandigarh. But Upinder Singh Gill threatened them to disrupt the wedding. At very short notice both His family and His wife’s family decided to move the wedding to Dubai (where His in laws reside) as a precautionary measure. This move was extremely torturous and emotionally draining on both the families.

Even though their lawyer visited women cell Ludhiana regarding their case and they were responsive to police emails and phone calls, the police continued to insist on them visiting them in person. They even asked for a copy of the complaint and details of the investigation by sending them an application under the RTI act. They have not received anyreponse to our RTI application till date. Both Upinder Singh Gill and women cell Ludhiana wanted them to come to India and get arrested so they would feel humiliated and fulfill Upinder Singh Gill’s outrageous demands under pressure. In other words, Upinder Singh Gill and women cell Ludhiana tried to victimize them by illegally framing us into the 498/406 racquet. Mr. Tiwana Said that  false allegations were made against them  and the police faked a mediation process in the Women Cell in their absence without proper investigation and filed a case under IPC 406 in NRI cell Ludhiana.

Feeling very harassed, distressed and helpless, they contacted the office of IG NRI affairs Punjab. They were very responsive to their queries and guided them in the right direction. However, since the case was already registered, finding no other alternative his parents obtained Pre-arrest bail from the court of LdAdditional session Judge Ludhiana and returned to India to join investigation on 13th Oct 2013.

His father has been very depressed since the filing of this false case. He had been worried about his standing in society and his future in this old age. His brother’s in laws have humiliated him many times via phone calls when he  was abroad.

On 19th October 2013, Brijodh’s Father had fixed time with I.O of the case to join investigation, but feeling humiliation of being forced to attend the police station and due to all this depression he has gone missing since the morning of 19th October 2013. He left home early in the morning and has not returned back till now. His motorcycle was found parked near the Bhakhra canal Sidhuwaal bridge. Brijodh’s chacha ji and His mother have filed a complaint in the nearest police station (Bakshiwala). they have tried all possible avenues of searching for his father’s body in the canal and elsewhere but in no avail which also leads us to suspect foul play from Upinder Singh Gill.

Mr. Brijodh and Ms. Rachan Bassi said that their father was depressed due to the false implication of their family by Upinder Singh, his wife Kiranjit Gill and his daughter Karamvir Kaur Gill and He have all the reasons to hold them responsible to for this extremely distressing situation. He also hold Woman Cell Ludhiana for filing a false case against his family, for marital disputes which do not even fall under Indian jurisdiction. In the end, He said that He would like to thank the office of IG NRI Affairs Punjab and recommend all NRIs implicated in false cases to contact them.
