THANE: A Manpada resident has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill a girl after she refused a marriage proposal. The Naupada police said that 32-year-old Vishwanath Kirkire was f riendly with a woman who works as an accountant in a Thane shop. "Both knew each other for two years. However, the girl stopped being in contact with him, as her family members fixed her marriage with someone else. Kirkire was upset with this development," said a police official.
Kirkire reached the girl's apartment and asked her to marry him. On refusing, he threatened to kill her.
Kirkire also searched for the address of the person with whom the girl's marriage was fixed and told him that he was having an affair with the girl and showed him pictures of both of them together. On learning about this, the girl decided to lodge a complaint against Kirkire. The Naupada police registered a case against him under Sections 452, 354, 341, 506 (2) and 500 of the IPC. Kirkire was arrested from his house thereafter.
