Woman, paramour arrested for branding her 8-yr-old son

A woman and her paramour have been arrested for allegedly branding her elder eight-year-old son with a hot iron rod at nearby Rasipuram. 

The 26-year-old woman, who also has a six-year-old son, had left her husband some time back due to a misunderstanding and come to Rasipuram, where she reportedly developed a relationship with an autorickshaw driver, police said. 

The incident came to light when the boy's school teacher on noticing burn marks all over his body questioned him yesterday. 

She then took him to a hospital and later to a police station, where he again narrated what had happened. 

Both the woman and her 29-year-old paramour were arrested and produced before a magistrate last night, who remanded them to 15 days judicial custody, they said.

Barkha Singh did her duty, no state govt can remove her: NCW

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (ANI): After DCW Chairperson Barkha Singh alleged that AAP government is harassing her for summoning Somnath Bharti, NCW member Nirmala Samant said that Singh did her duty and that no state government has the authority to remove her. She said that Singh is not a state government appointee and therefore they cannot remove her. Further, Samant said that rather Delhi government should remove Bharti who pulled a women organization in his politics.

Girl murder Brother-in-law and surrender

If anyone says a Girl killed a man with a knife,no one beleive other than Indians. unless he is sleeping or drunk.
here brothe-in-law tried to rape sister-in-law after locking his wife in other room, and she killed him with a kitchen knife.
if he forced him to SIL room, he will lock the door, so how she will get kitchen knife..?
Even she gets the knife no man will give head to stab him…

its a well planned plot, both sister killed man may be he was sleeping and cookup the story that he was harassing his wife.

may be in reality they wanted to get rid of him, coz they know, Indian law and Police will not do anything, as in india, Women are endangered spicies.

A final-year undergraduate girl student on Friday surrendered after killing her brother-in-law who attempted to sexually assault her.

The girl, studying BCom in a private college in the city, went to the Madhavaram police station along with her sister and confessed to having killed her brother-in-law by stabbing him in his neck using a kitchen knife. When a police team reached their apartment, they found Mathew Vinu Raj (35) dead in a pool of blood.

In the wee hours of Friday, Mathew locked his wife in a room and barged into his sister-in-law’s room and forced himself on her, police said. Mathew’s 8-year-old son was asleep in another room.

“The girl tried to protect herself for long and then took out a kitchen knife and threatened Mathew to leave the room. As he was unrelenting, she first stabbed him on his head. But that proved futile. She then stabbed him in the neck,” said inspector K Krishnamoorthy.

The girl had been staying with her sister’s family at Madhavaram for the last seven years after both of her parents died.

Mathew, a native of Kerala, married the girl’s sister after courting her for a few years. He initially agreed to his wife’s sister staying in his house, but soon started physically assaulting her.

The girl on Friday surrendered to police in Madhavaram.

“He used to verbally abuse and beat his wife and sister-in-law. The girl said he started making sexual advances towards her in the last two months. She had to suffer in silence as she had no one to support her,” said deputy commissioner S Vimala.

In a rare case, the Madhavaram police booked the girl under the milder IPC Section 304 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and released her on bail. “She killed him in an act of self-defence,” said an officer. Police seek 

exemption under IPC section 100, which makes killing a person not an offence, if it was for self-defence.

Now woman lawyers claim they were 'sexually harassed' on Supreme Court premises by male advocates

The Supreme Court has once again been hit by allegations of sexual harassment. 

Close on the heels of two former SC judges being accused of molesting law interns, two women lawyers have filed complaints against male advocates accusing them of sexually harassing them inside the Supreme Court premises. 

The women lawyers filed the complaint before the 10-member Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC) constituted on November 26, 2013 as per the Vishaka guidelines to deal with complaints of sexual harassment on its premises.

According to the annual report of GSICC posted on the Supreme Court website, while one lawyer filed the complaint on December 12, 2013, deposed against the lawyer and got her statement video recorded, the other complainant appeared before the panel on December 16 and recording of her statement has been deferred on her request.

The report has not disclosed the names of the accused lawyers. 

"Unless and until the committee concludes the probe, it has been decided internally that the names of the advocates shall not be revealed," a committee member told Mail Today. 

The committee has two senior judges of the apex court-Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Justice Madan B Lokur as members.

If found guilty, the accused lawyers can be banned from entering the Supreme Court premises for a year. 

GSICC can also file a criminal complaint before the disciplinary authority, including the Bar Council of India. 

The panel has the jurisdiction to inquire into incidents which take place within the SC premises, including entire court block, open grounds, parking, old and new chamber blocks, libraries, canteens, bar rooms and health centre.

"Two complaints received by the GSICC from aggrieved women lawyers have been submitted to the internal sub-committee. Both the complaints are pending disposal with the internal sub-committee," the statement on the website said. 

The formation of the panel, which was pending since 1997 Vishaka verdict of the SC, was finally constituted after the sexual harassment complaint involving former SC judge AK Ganguly came to light.

Lady lawyers had petitioned the court two years ago for such a panel ever since complaints of sexual harassment of lawyers as well as stalking inside the court premises increased. 

Efforts for it gained momentum after an incident on March 19, 2013, when a cleaning staff climbed a shaft and secretly filmed a woman advocate while she was in the toilet in the old lawyers' chamber building inside the Delhi High Court.

महिलाओं के स्वास्थ्य के लिए भले ही सरकार फिक्रमंद हो, लेकिन पुरुषों के मामले में वह पूरी तरह उदासीन है। अनियमित दिनचर्या और भागदौड़ भरी जिंदगी कामकाजी युवाओं की सेहत पर भारी पड़ रही है। बावजूद इसके पुरुषों के स्वास्थ्य जांच की जरूरत ही नहीं समझी जाती। यूरोलॉजी सोसायटी ऑफ इंडिया पिछले पांच साल से देश की स्वास्थ्य योजनाओं में पुरुषों के लिए एक योजना शामिल करने की बात कह रही है। ताकि महीने में एक बार पुरुषों की सेहत की जांच सुनिश्चित हो सके। लेकिन प्रस्ताव को स्वीकृति नहीं मिली है।

एम्स के यूरोलॉजी विभाग के प्रमुख डॉ. टीएन डोगरा ने बताया कि एम्स में बीते पांच साल में मूत्र संबंधी विकार के 40 फीसदी पुरुष मरीज बढ़े हैं। इनमें प्रोस्टेट में पथरी, मूत्रसंबंधी परेशानी और प्रोस्टेट कैंसर जैसी समस्याएं देखी गई हैं। प्रोस्टेट बड़ा होने या फिर इसमें पथरी की समस्या लेकर पहले लोग 60 साल की उम्र के बाद डॉक्टरों के पास आते थे, लेकिन अब यह समस्या 40-50 के बीच देखी जा रही है। तनाव, डायबिटिज, किडनी की परेशानी सहित कैंसर के मामले भी पुरुषों 60 फीसदी बढ़े हैं।

यहीं नहीं महिलाओं की अपेक्षा पुरुषों में आत्महत्या की प्रवृति भी बढ़ी है। मतलब महिलाओं की अपेक्षा पुरुष तनाव के अधिक शिकार हो रहे हैं। आरएमएल के यूरोलॉजिस्ट डॉ. राजीव सूद ने बताया कि महिलाओं की तरह पुरुषों में एक उम्र के बाद पुरुष हार्मोन ‘मेल टेस्टोन’ की मात्रा बढ़ती  है। इस अवस्था को एंड्रोपॉज कहते हैं, जिससे प्रोस्टेट ग्रन्थि के बढ़ने व मूत्र संबंधी परेशानियां होती हैं। पहले की अपेक्षा अब पुरुषों में एंड्रोपॉज की स्थिति कम उम्र में देखी जा रही है।

Man ends life days after marriage is fixed

NAGPUR: A baffling case of alleged suicide has come to fore where 24-year-old Nirop Janbandhu ended life within a couple of days after his marriage was fixed with a girl from his native place Gadchiroli. Janbandhu, who stayed with his sister and brother-in-law at Juni Vasti near Zenda Chowk, was found hanging from the hook of ceiling fan with a rope by his father Gopichand on Thursday.

Police said since Janbandhu was working in the city for the last couple of years he was living at his sister and brother-in-law's residence. Janbandhu's father, who had joined the family around a week ago, had gone out for some work. It was learnt that Janbandhu had left a suicide note in which he didn't blame any one but sought forgiveness from his family members.

It was learnt that Janbandhu used to remain disturbed since his marriage was fixed. His family members have claimed before the police that they had also tried to console Janbandhu but to no avail. MIDC police have registered a case of accidental death.

SC sexual harassment panel gets 2 complaints since Nov 2013

New Delhi: The committee set up in the Supreme Court to deal with instances of sexual harassment within its precincts has received two complaints from two women lawyers since its inception in November 2013. 

"Both the complaints are pending disposal," said the Supreme Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC), in its annual report which was made public today in the apex court website. 

The report has not disclosed the names of the alleged offenders. 

It said the statement of one of the complainants was video recorded by its three-member internal sub-committee and recording of statement of the other woman lawyer was deferred on her request. 

The report said that GSICC was constituted on November 26 last year with an object to fulfil an important function of sensitizing the public on gender issues and to address complaints made with regard to sexual harassment in the precincts of the Supreme Court. 

"In the First Meeting of GSICC held on December 9, 2013, an Internal Sub-Committee of three members was constituted in terms of Clause 9 (1) of the said Regulations. The three members are Indu Malhotra, Senior Advocate, L Nageshwar Rao, Senior Advocate and Bharti Ali, co-director of HAQ, an NGO. 

"Two complaints received by the GSICC from aggrieved women lawyers have been submitted to the Internal Sub-Committee. The Internal Sub-Committee initiated the process of examining the two complaints. 

Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam had formed GSICC which is headed by the Supreme Court's woman judge, Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, and has six other female members. 

There are two members who are outsiders and not connected with the apex court in any manner. 

The panel is in consonance with the guidelines laid down by apex court in its judgement in Vishaka case for dealing with complaints of sexual harassment at workplace. 

Under the guidelines, it is required that the panel has a majority of female members and two members of civil society nominated by the Chief Justice of India. 

The committee includes three male members-- Justice Madan B Lokur, sitting apex court judge, senior advocate L Nageswara Rao and Prof Dr G Mohan Gopal, Director of Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, who is the nominee of the CJI and is an outsider. 

The women members are senior advocate Indu Malhotra, advocate Bina Madhavan (representative of Supreme Court Bar Association), B Sunita Rao (representative of Supreme Court advocates-on-record Association), Madhu Chauhan, (representative of Supreme Court Clerks Association) and Bharti Ali (Co-Director, HAQ : Centre for Child Rights, New Delhi) has been appointed as a nominee of the CJI and is an outsider. 

Rachna Gupta, Additional Registrar, is the member Secretary of the committee. 

The Supreme Court in October had put on its website the guidelines framed to deal with sexual harassment complaints within its precincts. 

As per the notification on "The Gender Sensitisation & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), Regulations, 2013" "aggrieved woman means, in relation to the Supreme Court, any female, of any age, whether employed or not, who claims to have been subjected to any act of sexual harassment by any person in the Supreme Court of India precincts but does not include any female who is already governed by the Supreme Court service regulations."
