Well, we thought that the dollar strength was only luring investors and job seekers to move out of India. But, little did we know that it will attract brides too?
If you find this too true to believe, we have the proof for you. A 68-year-old US-based Indian doctor (loaded with dollars, of course!) has received marriage proposals from around 152 Indian women. And, mind it, this list includes women as young as 21.
Dr. Raman Shah (name changed) had contacted an Ahmedabad-based NGO that finds life partners for elderly people. The advertisement read, "68-year-old doctor residing in New York needs a bride who is willing to shift to the US. There is no age, caste or religion bar." Since then, the NGO’s office is flooded with applications for this NRI doctor.
"We had expected around 25-30 responses that too from women aged above 45 or 50 years. But there is a mad rush to marry him. There are 152 women who are keen to marry him and shift to the US," the coordinator of the NGO was quoted as saying by Times of India.
These women took the no age and no religion bar too seriously, we say! The applications include a 21-year-old Muslim girl from Surat and a Hindu girl from Ahmedabad of the same age.
“A 35-year-old woman from Ahmedabad is even ready to dump her husband if Dr. Shah selects her,” added the coordinator. Moreover, there are women who are also ready for a live-in relationship with Dr. Shah.
Now, for those who are wondering why this NRI doctor is marrying so late, we even have that answer for you. Dr. Shah chose to remain single after an Ahmedabad-based woman (whom he was in love with) refused to move with him to the US.
Dr. Shah is set to visit Ahmedabad in November and will tie the knot here.
